- DON’T FORGET YOUR SUNSCREEN
Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you can put away your sunscreen. Here in Australia the sun’s ray have the power to damage your skin all year round and sunscreen will help keep your skin protected from the sun’s harmful UV winter rays.
- DON’T BECOME SLACK WITH MOISTUISING AND EXFOLIATING
Your skin produces less oil in winter, making it more prone to dryness so it’s importance to exfoliate regularly, at least once a week. Regular moisturising of your skin is important too but note- you may need to do it more often if your skin is becoming dryer more frequently.
- AVOID OVER INDULGING IN HOT SHOWERS AND WARM AIR-CONDITIONING
Hot showers and air conditioning have a tendency to dry out or irritate your skin and they can also cause or exacerbate skin conditions like rosacea.
- CHANGE YOUR MAKEUP TO SUIT THE COOLER CONDITIONS
There is nothing worse than seeing someone wear a dark tan foundation or going crazy with bronzer in the middle of winter. Come winter time it is important to embrace the cooler months and adjust both your makeup and skincare routine accordingly. Find out what colours go best with your natural skin tone and learn to highlight all your best features so that you feel and look just as fantastic during winter as you do in summer.
- DON’T FORGET TO USE TONER
The winter air may seem refreshing but it is actually more harmful than helpful for your skin. Not only does toner remove residue left behind by your cleanser, it is the first step in properly moisturising your skin. The right toner moisturises your skin and creating a shield against bacteria. Just make sure to avoid any which have alcohol as an ingredient – alcohol is even more drying to the skin. Something you definitely don’t need.
